Our application process is intended to help us get to know you better—not to judge your writing or video skills. We’re looking to see your team’s personalities, passion, and commitment.
The process includes two phases: 1) a video and written application; and 2) for those who are selected to move to the next phase, a virtual interview with members of the Breakthrough team. Teams that are selected to participate in an interview will also be asked to submit a budget for how they would use their $100K award within the nine months of participating in Breakthrough.

We know the value of conversations and connections. In the second phase of our application process, we will conduct interviews with selected teams to learn more about your team and innovation. Applicants will be notified by late June if they have been selected to participate in an interview with the Breakthrough team and will be given clear instructions on what to expect.
Teams that are selected to participate in an interview will be required to submit a budget outlining how they would use the $100K award over the nine-month duration of their involvement in Breakthrough. Teams will receive guidance on the budget submission process and timeline.
