about us

At Breakthrough, we believe that those who are closest to challenges often hold the most powerful solutions, yet these people may not have the resources to implement what they think will work. The Breakthrough Accelerator aims to close this gap by helping teams grow the impact of their innovative ideas, so young people are served by solutions that are truly responsive to their needs.

Our aim has been to recruit four cohorts of teams from 2024 to 2028. We anticipate applications for Cohort 3 will be available in April 2026.

The Breakthrough Accelerator was established in 2023 and is led by Child Trends and supported by Beyond the Lecture and OkaySo. We are part of a larger group of Innovation Hubs that receive funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Population Affairs. Breakthrough and the other Innovation Hubs function as intermediaries to identify and support multiple cohorts of innovation development teams. These teams will develop, refine, and test innovative models and strategies that make positive advances in teen pregnancy prevention.
